Key Planning Information for Indian Tourists
1. Entry Permit & Documentation: Indian Nationals do not require a visa, but an Entry Permit is mandatory.
Documents Required:
- Valid Passport (min. 6 months) OR Original Voter ID issued by Election Commission of India
- Two recent passport-size photographs
- Travel itinerary & hotel bookings
Process: Permit is issued at the Department of Immigration in Phuentsholing (road entry). Can also be applied online via approved Bhutan tour operators/hotels.
2. Sustainable Development Fee (SDF)
- Indian tourists pay INR 1,200 per person per night.
- Applies to all nights in Bhutan and is mandatory.
3. Transport
- Entire trip by road.
Route Permit from Thimphu Immigration Office required for places beyond Paro & Thimphu (like Punakha), This requires two more days in Bhutan.
